Complete Hitters Aren’t Born. They’re Built… and Earned.
Key takeaways
- Online hitting coaching runs on video: your hitter films swings and game at-bats, the coach reviews them and sends back one clear priority and the next step.
- It starts with an evaluation, not a drill. The first job is finding what’s actually holding the hitter back across all 4 pillars.
- Between check-ins, the hitter does short daily work (most lessons are 10–20 minutes) and films it from the same angles every time.
- Progress reviews compare old video to new video, so you SEE whether it’s working instead of guessing.
Online hitting coaching works like this: your hitter films swings and game at-bats on a phone, the coach evaluates them, builds a plan and sends back video feedback with one clear priority at a time. The hitter trains between check-ins, films the same angles, and progress reviews prove whether the plan is working.

Most people picture a one-time video review or an app that spits out a score. Real remote coaching isn’t that.
If you’re still deciding whether online is right for your hitter at all, start with Are Online Hitting Lessons Worth It? or Online vs In-Person Hitting Lessons. This post is the next question: what really happens, step by step.
1. What happens before online coaching starts?
At AHD, the 90-Day Private Hitter Development program starts with an application. You tell us about the hitter, the goals and what’s getting in the way, and add a swing video link if you have one.
I personally review every application and text you to talk through fit and timing. Not every hitter is ready, and I’d rather say so up front. Spots are limited to 12 athletes at a time, because real coaching takes real attention.
Want a head start? Run the free SwingChecker first. It takes about 3 minutes and ranks your hitter’s top priority across the 4 pillars, so we’re not starting from zero.
ONLINE COACHING
HOW ITWORKS.
- Apply and talk fit
- Film the baseline
- Evaluation + 90-day plan
- Train, film, get feedback
- Progress reviews on video
A COACH, A PLAN, A PHONE
2. What happens in the first week?
The first week is about getting the evaluation right. A wrong diagnosis wastes 90 days.
- Film the baseline.Side and behind views, chest high, landscape, slow motion (120 or 240 fps), whole body and bat through the finish: 5 tee swings and 5 live or front toss.
- Send game at-bats.Practice swings only tell half the story; game video shows timing, decisions and how the swing holds up under pressure.
- The starting evaluation.I look at all 4 pillars: The Swing, Strength & Explosiveness, The Hitting Processor and the Mental Approach.
- The personal 90-day plan. You get the priorities in order, the lessons to do and what we’re going to retest.
The full filming checklist is on the online swing analysis page. Same angles every time. That one rule makes or breaks remote coaching.
Parents sometimes ask why we don’t just start fixing things on day one. Because the first thing you see on video is rarely the real problem. A hitter who pulls off might be late. A hitter who looks weak might be strong but out of order. The evaluation is where we sort that out, so the plan attacks the cause and not the symptom.
3. What does a normal week of remote hitting coaching look like?
Once the plan is set, the rhythm is simple. Train, film, send, get feedback, adjust.
- Daily work. Short lessons from the plan. Most are 10–20 minutes, done daily or in sessions. Plus a few minutes of Hitting Processor work: see it, time it, decide, attack it, trained DAILY.
- Filmed swings. The hitter films the current drill and a short live round from the same angles.
- Game at-bats. When there are games, send the at-bats. That’s where the plan gets tested for real.
- Video feedback. I answer with one thing: keep going, adjust this, or you’re ready for the next step.
- Text access. Questions in between? Text Coach directly instead of waiting for the next review.
The hitter also gets the complete AHD Training Library, all 7 courses, so the lessons in the plan are always right there.
One priority at a time. Not ten.
4. How do you know online coaching is working?
Video. That’s the beauty of remote coaching. Every session is filmed from the same angles, so a progress review lines up the starting swing next to the current one. You SEE the change or you don’t.
Progress reviews also check the numbers we set at the start: a 10-swing round scored the same way, game at-bat quality, whatever the plan said we’d retest. If the number moves, we move to the next priority. If it doesn’t, we adjust the plan. That’s how the 90 days build on each other instead of starting over every week.
By the end, the goal is an aggressive and athletic hitter who swings with controlled violence, and who understands WHY his swing works. Don’t collect drills. Build a complete hitter.
There will be weeks where it looks worse before it looks better. That’s normal when a hitter is changing a move he’s done for years. The video helps here too, because a parent can see the new position showing up in the drill even when the game results haven’t caught up yet. That’s when the plan matters most: stay on it, keep filming and trust the retest.
5. Who is online hitting coaching right for?
It fits motivated hitters who will film and do the work between check-ins, usually middle school and up, and families who aren’t near a coach they trust. A parent who can set up the phone and send clips makes a big difference.
It’s not the best fit for a very young beginner who needs hands-on help, or a kid who won’t practice without someone in the room. If that’s your hitter and you’re in Arizona, in-person lessons in Scottsdale are a better start. If you want to work on your own, the Complete Hitter Masterclass is self-guided.
90-Day Private Hitter Development is $1,995 for 90 days: the starting evaluation across all 4 pillars, a personal 90-day plan, all 7 courses, ongoing swing and game at-bat video analysis, progress reviews and direct text access to Coach. The hitter films swings and game at-bats on a phone and sends them to the coach. The coach evaluates them, builds a plan and sends back video feedback with one clear priority, then progress reviews compare old and new video.
